Former FA Head of Communications, Paul Newman, joins The Players Foundation
The Players Foundation is delighted to welcome Paul Newman to the charity as its new PR Adviser.
Paul enjoyed a long career as a television reporter, including three years as sports correspondent for BBC News, before joining The Football Association as Head of Communications in 2000. Since then, he has worked in a variety of senior communications roles and has also been a board director with the Lancashire FA since 2021.
Paul will be responsible for building the profile of the Foundation, enhancing relationships with a wide range of partners and taking the charity’s story to a wider audience.
Paul will work closely with the trustees and the executive management team led by CEO Stephen Claus, to support the delivery of the Foundation’s strategic objectives.
Foundation Chairman, Brendon Batson OBE, said: “We are really pleased that Paul is joining The Players Foundation. His extensive media and communications experience and connections within the game are invaluable to us, as we promote the critical work that the charity is delivering. Paul’s appointment reaffirms our commitment to supporting professional footballers beyond their time on the pitch.”
