David Harrison was appointed as Chief Executive Officer by the Board of Trustees at The Players Foundation in January 2026, in succession to Stephen Claus, who retired after four years in the role.
David is a hugely experienced and highly respected senior executive in the world of football, having previously held the position of Director of Football Operations at both Manchester United and Everton.
With more than 30 years’ experience in the game, David’s previous role at Manchester United included the management of all football operations at the Carrington training ground, with responsibility for the men’s, women’s and academy teams, and a key focus on football administration and player support.
David grew up in Radcliffe and started his career in the ticket office at Old Trafford before moving to Everton in 1995 and rising through the club’s managerial ranks.
As a senior executive at Everton, David played a crucial role in the life of the club’s official charity, Everton in the Community. He was also part of the leadership team that oversaw the Toffees’ move from Goodison Park to the new £600 million Hill Dickinson stadium.
David is a strategic leader with a deep understanding of the football industry, with an extensive network both internationally and throughout the Premier League, the EFL, the Women’s Super League and The Football Association
