Worrying about your memory or the possible symptoms of a neurodegenerative condition can be a very uncomfortable and fearful feeling. This can be especially true if you are worried about the memory of someone you know or care about and, they are unaware of the issues that concern you.
There is so much in the media and online that discusses the most negative and worrying aspects of dementia or other neurodegenerative conditions and, sometimes the fear this generates can make it difficult for us to know what to do to try to address our concerns.
There are lots of health issues that can cause memory issues and neurological symptoms that are not dementia or a neurodegenerative condition. The best way to start getting the answers you need is to see your GP in the first instance. They will be able to hear your concerns and start the process of investigations to see what may be happening for you or the person you are caring for.
While you are going through this process, we are able to support you through our partners DISC Dementia Support, who will be able to discuss your concerns with you and will ensure you have all of the information and support you need to make the best decisions for yourself or the person you are concerned about.
